Pink diamonds are considered one of the strongest segments of the rare colored diamond market because of their inherent rarity, declining supply base and strong buying activity around the globe. The parent company of the Argyle Mine, Rio Tinto, has focused on the distribution and marketing of pink diamonds around the globe, but particularly in Asia over the last five years and through their investment campaigns, jewelry campaigns and dealer activity have dramatically increased sales at a time when pink diamonds are becoming harder to source.
Pure pink colored diamonds with no trace of a secondary modifying color are extremely rare. There are many variations of pink. Common names used to identify shades of pink are raspberry, bubble gum and rose.
